LOCUS Review

This is one I’ve been waiting for. Locus Magazine calls Cameron Haley (that’s me) a “very promising newcomer” and calls MOB RULES a “fun, fast-paced novel.”

Domino may be a criminal, but she has a dedication to her job that makes her easy to root for, and some new developments in the end promise things are only going to get more interesting for her in future volumes.

The magazine likewise describes HARVEST MOON as “a strong fantasy anthology,” and says:

With three such entertaining stories, all standalones despite being part of series, this anthology is a good choice for anyone wanting to sample these series, as well as a delight for existing fans.

My editor tells me MOB RULES has been nominated for Best Urban Fantasy Novel in the 2010 Reviewers’ Choice Awards by RT Book Reviews Magazine! I don’t know who the other nominees are, but I’m sure to be in good company. Patricia Briggs won last year. Many thanks, RT!

A Review and Status Check

I’ve been somewhat remiss in updating the blog the last couple weeks. Here’s why. I’m in the middle of reviewing the final proofs of SKELETON CREW, which I’d like to finish this weekend. Luna has also asked for a proposal for WITCH HUNT, the tentative title of Book 3, along with the first chapter. Huzzah! This means they’d like The Underworld Cycle to continue, which is a good sign. And finally, I’m pulling together a “making of” article on MOB RULES for Fantasy Book Critic, one of the top fantasy fiction blogs and one that covers UF extensively. And on that note, Fantasy Book Critic recently posted an excellent, in-depth review of MOB RULES.

“Overall a good debut effort and Cameron Haley marks himself out amongst the UF crowd with this dark tale.”
