I’ve posted before on my possibly indecent affection for the Kindle. Now that my debut novel is out, I love it for a whole new reason: sumbitch sells some books.
Okay, MOB RULES isn’t a romance — I’ve noticed a couple DNFs from paranormal romance readers at Goodreads* — but lots of readers who enjoy romances will also enjoy MOB RULES. Even if they remain unconvinced with the romantic shenanigans. Actually, that’s a pretty healthy attitude, as I’ve noted before.
There’s really no telling what this rank translates to in terms of sales. NovelRank estimates it at 69 Kindle books so far this month, fourteen of them coming today, but I’ve heard the estimates are unreliable–on the low side. Whatever, it’s a nice amount of books, considering we’re told digital books make up less than 10% of sales.
Maybe you’re one of those 14+ readers who picked up the Kindle book today. If so, thank you. Just remember what I said about the “romance” bit. And, for that matter, if you’re one of the people who picked up HARVEST MOON because it’s a bestseller in a couple “Children’s Book” sub-categories…sorry about the f-bombs and murders.

I greatly enjoyed Mob Rules. So much so that I may have to pick up Harvest Moon to hold me over until Skeleton Crew is released. I truly appreciate the freshness with which the book presents its self. Please do continue to publish on Kindle. Had it not been for that marvelous little device I should have never heard of your book. And that sir, would have been my loss!
Thanks so much, Chris! I’m really happy you enjoyed the book. It’s not my decision whether or not the books continue to be available on Kindle, but I’m fairly certain the publisher is also happy with the arrangement.
I read your novel in one sitting (on the Kindle) and personally I am glad it is not a romance (unless perhaps Honey is involved.)
I am so tired of so called urban fantasy novels which are really just formulaic romance books that, and I don’t want to offer any spoilers but, I was deeply satisfied with what happened to the possible love interest. Rather cathartic, really.
Anyway, great read and will be preordering the sequel. You have a bright future! Your moms must be proud.

Skelly Crew isn’t available for kindle pre-order
. Please ask them to fix this.
Loved your book. Props for creating a pixie with dialogue that was actually a likable character. I’ve never liked a pixie before… especially after it opened it’s mouth. But that is only the tip of the iceberg on why this book is so filled with awesome and win.
Hi K — I’m not sure when the Kindle book will be up for pre-order, but it definitely will be there eventually. I’ll drop a note on the blog when it shows up! Thanks so much for your kind words, and I’m glad you enjoyed Honey.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Michelle. It sounds like you’re a reader after my own heart — up to and including the Kindle love! I’ll make sure my moms read your comment!
